FIAP Elections in Progress

Annual elections for FIAP officers are now underway. Elections began on October 10 and will continue until December 10, 2001. Voting will take place on-line under the URL:

http://www.aps.org/units/fiap/election/

There you will find a list of the candidates and their vitae as well as statements of their aims for the Forum and the APS. In order to help your decision making, here is a brief description of the duties and responsibilities of each office.

Vice-Chair:
In the first year, this person is the Program Chair for the FIAP sessions at the March meeting. In the second year, this person becomes Chair-Elect. The Chair-Elect chairs the Nominating Committee and the Fellows Committee. Finally, in the third year, this person is Chair of FIAP, overseeing all the activities of the Executive Committee, including helping to organize invited and focus sessions for the March Meeting.

Secretary-Treasurer:
This person keeps track of all the finances of FIAP including the following activities:

• approves spending as needed;
• reports the current status of the treasury to the FIAP Executive Committee;
• serves on committees like the Nominating Committee and the Fellows Committee;
• helps organize invited and focus sessions for the March Meeting.

Member-at-Large:
This person serves on committees like the Nominating Committee and the Fellows Committee and helps organize invited and focus sessions for the March Meeting.
