Dedman College has a Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) comprised of representatives from each of the departments in Dedman College with a graduate program. The GSA receives a portion of the student fees paid by the graduate students in Dedman College. These funds are returned to graduate students through small grants to cover certain expenses. More information available at:
https://www.smu.edu/graduate/CurrentStudents/GSA

The Department also has an active Society of Physics Students (SPS) Chapter which includes both undergraduate and graduate students. More information on this organization is available on the web at:

Please describe why someone applying to graduate school who is interested in a female-friendly department should choose your department.

At SMU the physics department is small and specialized in its research focus. The department in the last two years has been fortunate to make exceptional faculty hires that have included two women faculty members, thereby increasing the diversity of the department as a whole.

Please include the name of faculty or staff member and an email they can be reached at for further questions.
